5 years on from the destruction of the camp known as the ‘Jungle’, Calais is still a place where refugees struggle to survive in terrible conditions.
Blocked at the border between France and the UK, over a thousand people are sleeping rough in makeshift camps under a shopfront or tarpaulin. They face constant police violence and, once again, a harsh winter.
WHAT WE DO
We, a group of humanitarian aid organisations in Calais, have shared forces and expertise during the many years that we have been working together on the ground. We collaborate to provide food, firewood, clothing, information and basic shelter to people who find themselves blocked at the border between France and the UK.
WE NEED YOUR HELP TO CONTINUE
Because of the withdrawal of our shared major donor, we may no longer be able to continue our work after December. If we were to have to leave Calais there would be dangerous gaps left in the provision of basic warmth, shelter and food.
